bodysuit basics for every budget
Bodysuits are a staple in my wardrobe and something I wear year round. They are the perfect layering item and a great starting point to many outfits! Bodysuits don’t have to make you feel naked or even sexy, they can be a clean crisp basic that you reach for in your closet day to day. This season I am seeing really great neutrals and deep nude color bodysuits that are great for fall. Here are some of my favorite bodysuits and tips on how to style them.
LAYER! Bodysuits do not have to be worn on their own. If you feel uncomfortable or that the “snug fit” just isn’t for you, the key is to pair your bodysuit with different layers! That could be a leather jacket and boyfriend jeans, a flowy midi skirt or a looser bottom like a jogger. This way you’ll still feel covered up but get the clean lines that a bodysuit gives.
Tight on top, loose on bottom. This one is important! If you are wearing your bodysuit (especially on its own) make sure you pair with a looser fitted bottom or an oversized jacket on top. It’s all about balancing out your outfit and making sure your body stays proportionate. For instance, if I throw on a bodysuit, skinny jeans and ankle booties I am always putting a blazer or loose bomber jacket over it.
Find your favorite and buy in classic colors. When I find a bodysuit I love (the material, fit and overall comfort) I buy it in white, black and nude. These will be useful year round and a great capsule wardrobe piece. You can pair your white bodysuit with a summer skirt, under a leather jacket and dark jeans for fall or even as a little pop of a mock-neck under a chunky sweater in winter! It’s a versatile item you can transition with each season.
